I have seen it all. I have seen sunrises in the mountains, beautiful and serene and full of new promises. I have seen sunsets in the oceans, majestic and melancholic and mysterious. If asked to choose between the molten gold being poured onto snow clad peaks, revealing the wonders of mornings and the fiery red ball retreating into the horizon as if tired and sad, I would choose none. I have seen it all but each time I close my eyes to imagine a sunrise, I picture the banks of Ganga where people offer morning prayers to the gradually appearing sun, asking it to fill the new day with hopes. The sun peeks from the water and slowly spreads its beautiful bright yellow shroud all over the sky as if blessing us all. I have seen sunsets, mesmerizing ones, but every time i try to recall one, I picturize the sun slowly hiding behind the Vidyasagar Setu overlooking the Princep Ghat creating this mysterious romantic orange in the air while lovers hold hands, lock lips and get lost in the beauty of the ending day. It is no longer a melancholic event, it's the start of a budding romance, it's a witness to numerous promises. I hear the chirping of birds returning home after a long day, I see them fill up the evening sky and that's when I realize that sunrises and sunsets remind me of home, of a place where i can open my eyes to see my family right there next to me and where I can kiss the day goodbye holding hands with my beloved. I have seen it all but nothing compares to my home, my city, my love KOLKATA.
